Our Bourbon Barrel-aged Chardonnay—the world’s first and only Chardonnay aged in bourbon barrels—reflects the expressive character of this truly original approach to aging. We craft this wine from cool, coastal fruit in Monterey County, before aging it in a combination of new and used bourbon barrels. The new barrels give the wine its rich, toasty flavor. The used barrels—selected from a renowned Kentucky distillery—offer notes of vanilla and baking spices from the fine bourbon that once filled these casks.
Intense aromas of ripe pineapple and toasted coconut emerge from the glass, framed by hints of toasted marshmallow and vanilla bean custard. A rich and creamy palate of grilled pineapple, lemon custard, graham cracker, toffee and vanilla bean is balanced by bright acidity. Subtle undertones of toasty oak and baking spices round out the lingering finish on this decadent Chardonnay.
